Old Harrisonian society The Old Harrisonian Society is a voluntary Organisation of the alumni and former members of Harrison College. The Society was incorporated and registered under the Charities Act, 1979. Foundation School In the minute book of the committee of management of the Christ Church Foundation School for 1832, there was a copy of a memorandum dated 10th July 1809. It was found under the foundation stone of the original school buildings from that time. It stated that the school building was erected with the aid of subscriptions for the purpose of a school for the poor white children of the parish. Ellerslie School We are one of the earliest institutions in the island of Barbados that catered to the broad masses of students of ordinary Barbadian.Ellerslie Secondary School was established in the same year as Barbados became independent of Britain. The school got its name from its location, a former sugar plantation - evidence of which remains in the form of the mill wall to the south of the junior block. Queens College Colonel Henry Drax is the distinguished founder of Queen's College. The endowment for a free school or college in Bridgetown was made in his will registered on October 4th, 1683 after his death. During that time, the school had many names - Drax's School, The Parish School of St. Michael, The Free School and the Parochial Charity School among others, and finally Queen's College in 1883. St.Winifred's School 1901 Grassfield School founded by Miss Edith Ince, later to become Mrs. G.B.R. Burton. Located where St. Michael’s School is today.
